Troubleshooting Guide

Issue: "Zoom connection failed" message appears
What to do: Click Connect Zoom again — this usually resolves on retry.

Issue: Button doesn't update to "✓ Zoom" after authorizing
What to do: Refresh the page. If it still doesn't show as connected, disconnect (if shown) and reconnect.

Issue: Transcripts aren't appearing after a meeting
What to do: Confirm the meeting used cloud recording (not local) and that audio transcription was enabled in Zoom settings before the meeting started.

Usage

Automatic transcript pull for Zoom meetings

  • What it does: When you meet with someone in kinou's calendar view and that meeting was hosted on Zoom with cloud recording enabled, kinou automatically fetches the meeting transcript after the call ends.

  • Prerequisites: Zoom account connected to kinou (shown as ✓ Zoom in the header); cloud recording with audio transcription enabled for the meeting; meeting must appear in your connected Google or Microsoft calendar.

  • What happens next: kinou uses AI to extract potential notes about the people you met with (context, follow-ups, personal details) and shows them to you for confirmation. Nothing is saved automatically — you choose what to keep.

Transcript handling

  • Transcripts are pulled, processed, and discarded. kinou does not store raw meeting transcripts. Only the notes you explicitly confirm are saved to your account.

Removing the App

To disconnect Zoom from kinou:

  1. Click the ✓ Zoom button in the app header.

  2. Confirm by clicking Disconnect when prompted.

  3. This immediately revokes kinou's stored Zoom access token. The button reverts to Connect Zoom.

To fully remove kinou from your Zoom account:

  1. Sign in to the Zoom App Marketplace.

  2. Go to Manage → Added Apps.

  3. Find kinou and click Remove.

What happens when you disconnect or remove kinou:

  • kinou immediately loses the ability to access your Zoom recordings or transcripts.

  • Any notes already saved in kinou (created from past meetings) are not deleted — they remain in your account, since they're your data, separate from Zoom.

  • No transcript or recording data is retained by kinou at any point, connected or not — transcripts are processed in-memory to extract note suggestions and then discarded.

  • If you'd like your entire kinou account and all notes deleted as well, email happy@joydrop.me and we'll process that separately.
