Agreement to these terms

By signing in to kinou and using the service, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use kinou.

 

kinou is operated by Joydrop. These terms govern your use of kinou at mykinou.com and any related services.

What kinou is

kinou is a personal meeting-prep tool that helps you remember professional context about the people you work with. It is:

• A private, single-user memory tool — your data is visible only to you

• Not a CRM, HR system, surveillance tool, or data broker

• Not a substitute for your organisation's official systems or processes

 

Your account

You sign in to kinou using your Google or Microsoft account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for all activity that occurs under it.

You must be at least 18 years old to use kinou. By using kinou, you confirm that you meet this requirement.

 

Acceptable use

You agree to use kinou only for lawful professional purposes. You must not:

• Record sensitive personal data about colleagues — including health conditions, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, political views, or financial details

• Use kinou to harass, monitor, or harm any individual

• Share your kinou account or data with others

• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or interfere with the service

• Use kinou in violation of your employer's data handling or acceptable use policies

 

Data about your colleagues

kinou allows you to record notes about people who have not signed up for or consented to being in kinou. By using this feature, you accept full responsibility for:

• Ensuring you have a legitimate professional reason to record information about a colleague

• Complying with applicable privacy laws in your jurisdiction, including GDPR if you are in the EEA or UK

• Complying with your organisation's policies regarding personal data

Joydrop is not responsible for how you use information recorded in kinou about third parties. You are the data controller for any colleague data you enter.

Data retention and deletion

Notes in kinou auto-delete on the following schedule unless marked 'keep':

• Personal notes (sensitive): 30 days

• Personal notes (light): 90 days

• Work notes: 395 days (~13 months)

 

Kept notes are retained until you delete them manually. Deletion is permanent and irreversible — there is no recovery. You are responsible for exporting any data you wish to retain before it is deleted.

 

Service availability

kinou is provided as-is. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, and we may modify, suspend, or discontinue the service at any time with reasonable notice where possible.

We are not liable for any loss of data or access resulting from service interruptions.

 

Intellectual property

kinou and its underlying software are owned by Joydrop. Nothing in these terms grants you any ownership rights in kinou.
 

You retain ownership of the notes and data you enter into kinou.

 

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Joydrop is not liable for:

• Any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of kinou

• Loss of data due to auto-deletion, service interruption, or account termination

• Any consequences arising from how you record or use information about colleagues

• Any third-party claims arising from your use of kinou

 

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these terms or your use of kinou shall not exceed the amount you have paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Termination

You may stop using kinou at any time. To request full account and data deletion, contact us at the address below.

We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these terms, with or without notice depending on the severity of the violation.

 

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting a notice in kinou or by email. Continued use of kinou after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

 

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
